A number of senior housing professionals have been appointed to new roles
Octavia
London-based housing association Octavia has appointed Sandra Skeete as its new chief executive.
Ms Skeete will take up the position in September, replacing Grahame Hindes, who is retiring after 18 years in the role.
She brings more than 25 years of experience in social housing, including senior roles at Peabody and Refugee Housing Association. She currently sits on the boards of One Housing and the Duke of Lancaster Housing Trust.
Halton Housing
Liz Haworth was revealed as new group chief executive of Halton Housing on 23 April.
She will join the organisation in the summer from her current role as chief operations and transformation officer at Torus.
Kier Group
Bev Dew, finance director at Kier Group, will leave the company by 30 September 2019, after the financial results for the year ending 30 June 2019 are published. In an announcement to the markets on 7 May, the firm said that a search for his successor is under way.
The news comes after Kier named its new chief executive as Andrew Davies, formerly of Wates. Mr Davies had been due to take the reins of Carillion last year, before it became insolvent.
Haydn Mursell, Kier’s previous chief executive, left the business in January, with group chair Philip Cox stepping in as executive chair.
ForHousing
Henry Terefenko started as chief executive of ForHousing on 1 April, having previously been group director of communities at the organisation’s parent, ForViva.
Mr Terefenko began his career as a rent officer in 2008 at Salford City Council’s ALMO, before transferring to ForViva group member City West Housing Trust upon stock transfer.
He gained experience in a number of roles across the group, including commercial director at ForViva’s construction division, and most recently group director of communities at ForViva.
West Kent
Frank Czarnowski will retire from his role as chief executive of West Kent at the end of this year.
Mr Czarnowski has held the role since 2010, having first joined the Sevenoaks-headquartered housing association in 2001 as finance director. A process to recruit his successor began in early May.
One Housing
One Housing has appointed Chyrel Brown to the new role of chief operating officer.
Ms Brown will join One Housing in July from Hyde, where she has been director of resident services and interim group director of housing.
She is also a board member at Barnsbury Housing Association and an independent scrutiny panel member at Network Homes.
Mazars
International accountancy and advisory firm Mazars has appointed a new national head of housing.
Vincent Marke, a director at Mazars since 2016, takes up the role, replacing Lee Cartwright who moved to Beever & Struthers on 1 May.
An auditor by training, Mr Marke has worked in the social housing sector for more than 20 years, including five years as the finance director of a social housing provider.
Capsticks
Capsticks has boosted its housing team with the appointment of a new banking partner, Laurence Gorley.
Mr Gorley’s focus is banking and finance transactions, including capital markets transactions, leveraged finance and real estate finance transactions, and debt restructuring.
He brings experience in both the UK and the US, and previously worked at city firm Dechert.
B3Living
Hertfordshire-based B3Living has appointed two new executives, following on from the arrival in March of new chief executive Steve Woodcock, former operations director at Housing Solutions.
Chris Ellison takes up the role of operations director, with responsibility for housing and property services. He previously held executive interim/consultant roles in housing, and senior roles at Circle Housing Group (now part of Clarion).
John Hayden will begin the role of executive director of growth in July, taking responsibility for development, new business, and the organisation’s commercial development subsidiary Everlea Homes. He brings senior leadership experience, including as corporate director at Braintree Council.
JLL
Paul Tyrrell, former head of social housing for England and Wales at RBS, has joined real estate advisory JLL as a business development consultant in the affordable housing business.
Mr Tyrrell joins JLL’s affordable housing team, but will also contribute to the advisory’s wider ‘Living’ business, which includes student housing and healthcare.
Newlon Housing Trust
Ezinne Ogbonna has been appointed business development director at north London association Newlon Housing Trust, succeeding Caroline Pennock, who retired at the end of March.
