John Craggs has resigned from his role as chief executive of Gentoo Group.
The Sunderland-based housing association announced the news today (26 September 2017), adding that it will make interim leadership arrangements while it conducts “a thorough recruitment process using external consultants”.
Mr Craggs became CEO in September 2015 after Peter Walls – who was group chief executive from 2001 – announced he was stepping down with immediate effect.
The 29,000-home organisation’s governance grading was placed under review by the Homes and Communities Agency in August 2017.
It has a compliant G2/V2 rating, but faces a potential downgrade to non-compliant after reporting unspecified “issues” to the regulator.
Keith Loraine, chair designate, said: “We would like to thank John for his efforts in helping reshape the group over the last two years. We wish him good luck for the future.
“Myself and the rest of the group board and executive team will continue to progress Gentoo’s strategy and vision for great homes, strong communities and inspired people.”
