One Housing Group’s Paul Rickard is joining Pocket Living as its chief financial officer.
Mr Rickard is set to replace retiring group finance director and the company’s co-founder, Paul Harbard, in January 2019.
Pocket is a private property developer that delivers ’compact’ homes, which are sold outright at a discount of at least 20 per cent to the surrounding market rate.
Mr Harbard set up Pocket Living with Marc Vlessing in 2005. He had previously worked at Peabody Trust for 12 years as finance director before setting up a private venture in 2002 to help first-time buyers into the market.
He will become a non-executive director on the board of Pocket Living.
Mr Rickard has been group director of finance and resources, and then chief financial officer, at One Housing Group after joining the housing association in May 2016.
He was formerly finance director at 9,000-home Paragon Community Housing and before that was group corporate finance director at Circle. He has also worked at Traderisks.
Mr Vlessing said: “While day to day I shall miss my friend and business partner, I am pleased that he has accepted to become the latest NED recruit to the board of Pocket Living.
“Paul Rickard’s appointment brings a fresh perspective and new energy into the management team. London continues to need creative and innovative solutions to the housing crisis and people are looking to Pocket to deliver those.”
Mr Rickard said: “Pocket has established itself as a key and innovative part of London’s affordable housing solution, working hard to keep city makers in London. I am excited to be part of the next stage in Pocket’s growth and to help continue and expand the vision established so effectively by Paul and Marc.”
Mr Harbard said: “It is with mixed emotions that I leave the day to day of Pocket for retirement. With many milestones ahead, I am thrilled to stay involved, albeit from a distance, as a non-executive director.”
