Registered provider WM Housing Group has agreed a deal with Galliford Try Partnerships to deliver 100 new homes on a site in Birmingham.
The private developer acquired the former Hall Green greyhound stadium site in April, and received planning permission from Birmingham City Council in September for a 210-home redevelopment.
WM Housing has now agreed a deal with the developer to deliver half of the new homes.
Galliford Try will provide 110 homes, to be sold by its housebuilding business Linden Homes, while the remaining 100 units will be built by WM Housing as affordable homes.
WM Housing’s properties will cost £11.5m and be a mix of two-bedroom flats and two and three-bedroom houses. These will comprise 80 at affordable or social rents and 20 as shared ownership properties.
Nick Byrne, executive director of development at WM Housing, said: “We are delighted to have agreed a deal to transform this site in what will be one of our biggest developments ever. In Hall Green, as in many parts of Birmingham and the country, there is an acute shortage of housing that people can afford. This development will deliver a really significant number of new affordable homes to the community.
“Working in partnership with Galliford Try Partnerships, this development will regenerate this area and create a vibrant community in Hall Green.”
James Warrington, regional managing director for the Midlands at Galliford Try Partnerships, said: “This is a major development opportunity for us in Birmingham and it represents a significant contribution to the new-build local housing market in the area.
“We want to build long-term business relationships with our partners so we are very pleased to have joined forces with WM Housing to bring forward this much-needed, high-quality project which will see a full range of housing built over the next two years.”
