Biography

Sam is a senior actuary with nearly 20 years’ industry experience. He qualified as an actuary in 2007 and has held a Scheme Actuary certificate since 2009. Sam joined First Actuarial early in 2017 from LCP after moving back to Manchester from London.

Sam has worked with housing associations for more than 10 years, including with some of the largest in the UK. He is a recognised industry expert on SHPS bulk transfers and is regularly quoted in the sector’s publications on this topic.

In 2018, Sam was appointed as actuarial adviser to the newly formed SHPS Employer Committee – the committee set up earlier this year to represent the interests of all SHPS employers. He has also recently been appointed to advise the Employer Committee for the Scottish Housing Association Pension Scheme (SHAPS).

In his spare time, he is a director of FC United of Manchester (a football club set up as a community benefit society).
