Ms MacGregor has been appointed as THFC’s new RSH nominee director to replace the regulator’s director of strategy, Will Perry.

Mr Perry has completed his maximum permitted term under THFC’s rules for non-executive directors.

THFC has also appointed Gail Teasdale, chief executive of Broadacres Housing Association and board member of the National Housing Federation (NHF), as its new NHF nominee director.

She has replaced Catherine Ryder, who left the NHF in February this year.

Ms MacGregor and Ms Teasdale will not sit on the organisation’s credit committee to “avoid potential conflicts of interest”, THFC said.

THFC, a not-for-profit, was set up in 1987 through a partnership between the National Housing Federation and the Housing Corporation to provide housing associations with long-term capital markets funding.

It has a group loan book of £8.13bn covering around 160 housing associations across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Piers Williamson, chief executive of THFC, said: “We are delighted to welcome Fiona and Gail to our board. Both individually bring enormous practical experience and insight to our organisation and further cement the stewardship we have enjoyed from both the regulator and the industry representative body over the last 35 years.”

Ms MacGregor, who last year abandoned plans to step down from the RSH, said she looked forward to “working with the board to ensure that THFC remains an important part of the social housing sector in the years ahead”.

Ms Teasdale added: “THFC is an essential funder to the social housing sector, and I look forward to helping deliver much-needed investment in new and existing homes across the UK.”

The new appointments come as Gill Payne and Peter Impey last month completed their nine-year terms of office with THFC.

Alongside the announcements, THFC revealed that it had recorded a 10 per cent drop in post-tax surplus to £4.8m in the year to the end of March 2023. This came despite a four per cent rise in operating income to £292.2m.

THFC saw its operating expenses increase five per cent to £286.4m.

Earlier this month, THFC announced a number of internal appointments, including promoting Will Stevenson to group treasurer, to replace Fenella Edge, who is retiring after almost 21 years.
